In June of 2013 we found ourselves sitting on the shores of Lake Superior at the mouth of the Michipicoten River looking to follow once again in the footsteps of the Voyageurs. Taking the most direct route from the great lake Gitchi Gumee to Salt Water.

Our ration of upstream to downstream paddling was 9:22, making it an excellent all round #canoe trip which offered a little bit of everything; Hardwork, portaging, White Water, wildlife, fishing and of course relaxation.

From Halifax to Halifax all in, including gas, train to Cochrane, food, gear, a new used canoe and our 9 hour shuttle, this trip only cost us $750 per person! Winning!

Perhaps not the whole route but the Missinaibi River, I would highly recommend as a must see for any paddler out there or any body looking to cut their teeth at a long trip.
